I was recruited to join this passion project alongside my Studio 9+ team—an ambitious startup idea built around the intersection of music discovery and social connection. The concept was to create an app where users could not only stream music but also connect over shared tastes, curated playlists, and real-time listening experiences—essentially Spotify meets Instagram.

As the lead visual designer, I was responsible for defining the look and feel, building the brand identity, and crafting a design system that reflected the app’s energetic, community-driven spirit. From moodboards and logo exploration to typography, color systems, and high-fidelity UI comps, every element was created to deliver a cohesive, expressive experience for music lovers.

While the project ultimately didn’t make it to market—due to team shifts and reprioritization—it remains one of my favorite design efforts. It pushed me creatively, challenged me to define a full-scale brand from scratch, and proved how visual design can shape not just the aesthetics, but the emotional connection users have with a product.

How do you discover new music you like? It's a question that's been asked a thousand times. This was our solution; connect with friends... and yes, this was before Spotify did this.
